Eve & Leif are getting married!

Hello and thank you for visiting our site! As you can imagine, we are both excited to be moving forward with our lives together. You will find all the important information about our wedding here and in the email updates we will be sending as our wedding date gets closer.

Leif is currently in the process of adding more content to this page in his spare time, so please check back! In the mean time, we have a few items of importance posted below. These will include our RSVP contact form and our gift registry. RSVP deadline for our wedding is January 8th 2024.

Our Story

How we met

According to Leif!

We met at a premier acting studio in Toluca Lake, California called CBSI (Clay Banks Studio International).  I (Leif) was working part-time with Clay managing operations with studio tech and Eve was a master class student for a short time there prior to its closure. One evening at a final “movie night,” the group was having a discussion about the movie they had watched “City Island.”  Both Eve and I were mostly quiet, for a good 45 minutes while others posed their thoughts about meaning and execution.  When Eve was asked to share her insight, she stated exactly what I was thinking!

After a couple of days of debating with myself, I looked her up on social media. Then I waited a few more days to weigh the likelihood that my friend’s request would come off as weird, only to give another three days time before messaging her to ask if she would be interested in going hiking.  After all, a friend request accompanied by soliciting a date most definitely could come across as weird in the anxious mind of an introvert.

Eve accepted.

At the time, the only vehicle I owned was a 2009 Suzuki DL650 V-Strom.  It was perfect for a single guy, with no intention of dating, to commute in Southern California all year.  This was a challenge of course because Eve had never ridden on a motorcycle, and for a date, this could be troublesome to some women.  Not for Eve.  She boldly explained that she had never ridden on a motorcycle before and had always wanted to try. Her first ride included 70+ miles per hour in LA freeway traffic with occasional lane-splitting excitement, as well as country curves through Angeles National forest.

We went on a 6 miles round trip hike to the Dawn Mines which took close to 5 conversation-filled hours.  Mostly sitting near the mines (where the proposal photos were shot), eating lunch and talking about music taste, God, family, ambitions, and past lives. What really surprised me was when Eve suggested we take a different route back than we came.  A route which involved some steep climbing, but with a great view at the top. She didn’t complain or fall behind the entire time, which I respected.

After we finished, we rode the Suzuki back to Toluca Lake to have dinner at a burger joint called “The Counter.”  I didn’t get Eve home until almost 10 pm! So I would say the first date went okay.

Traveling to Morro Bay

Are you coming from out of state and need some guidance on travel plans?  While you can always reach out for help, below are some resources that might help you with your weekend to California.

Flying in from Out of State

If you are flying in from out of state, you might think it’s best to fly into Los Angeles, before renting a vehicle for the 3 hour drive north to Morro Bay.  However, there happens to be an airport roughly 20 miles south, located in the city of San Luis Obispo, California.  If you are planing to fly in, I suggest checking your local airport for flights that connect to San Luis Obispo.

If you have a reason to fly into Los Angeles, you might find that Burbank Airport is a much pleasant experience. Especially if you intend on going anywhere in the Valley. (Burbank, North Hollywood, Glendale, Studio City, Reseda, Pasadena, etc.). The wait time is generally far less, as there are almost always smaller crowds. Get to LAX at the wrong time of day and traffic is a nightmare.  You might pay a little more on airfare, but in the long run, it’s generally worth it.

Staying in Morro Bay.

If you are planning to stay overnight or multiple nights in Morro Bay, you are not limited to the standard hotel room! There are many options currently available for the weekend of February 16th, that can make your visit more enjoyable! If your an outdoors enthusiast and don’t mind off season camping, there are a number of campgrounds in the area that offer stunning views of the Pacific coast!

Airbnb is an excellent option for staying in the area. Eve and I have already booked ourselves a small cottage for the weekend at a much cheaper rate than the standard hotel. In fact, I have already booked an entire house for 10 visitors for drastically less than a hotel would have cost.  Airbnb host’s generally offer a more personalized and intimate experience, as you will be staying in an actually home.  Most often times a secluded portion or separate building.  If you are coming in for multiple days, act NOW, because rates will go up and houses will get booked.

  • When on the Airbnb site, do a search for Morro Bay, California. Enter in the dates and number of people you expect to have staying.
  • If you have transportation, you can select housing in both Cayucos and Los Osos as well. They are within 15 minutes driving distance from Morro Bay.
  • Be sure to read through all of the host information for further details.
  • Keep in mind that AirBnB is a booking service. Once you have paid for a reservation, the host will likely email you personally with any further details. Host’s are very good about making your experience hassle free, after all, it is their personal business! Feel free to ask about contact information and next steps on day of arrival.

Hotels Near the Wedding Venue

So you’re not comfortable with camping in the winter time and have no experience with the AirBnB marketplace. You prefer the traditional hotel stay.  No problem! Below are a list of hotels to chose from that range from reasonably priced to more expensive. This list is only a few random spots I found. There are MANY more to chose from. Just do a simple Google search for more options.

Best Western San Marcos Inn

  • This inn is located on the same city block as the house where my (Leif) family will be staying, and a few blocks from the chapel. No need to worry about parking for the wedding day!

Morro Bay Beach Inn

  • This is one of the cheaper options. Don’t let the name fool you though, it is located in the center of town, not near the beach.

Morro Crest Inn

  • This 2-star inn is located two blocks south of the chapel.

Morro Bay Sandpiper Inn

  • This 2-star hotel is located 4 to 5 blocks south of the chapel on Main street. Still an easy stroll to all of the town attractions.

Grays Inn and Gallery

  • Looking for a place right on the bay with extra attractions? Grays in boasts fully furnished apartments, with full kitchen, bathroom and excellent bay views! They even have an art gallery you can visit during your stay. However, they are on the pricier side.

Inn at Rose’s Landing

  • Another more expensive option. The Inn at Roses Landing sits right on the bay, and has modern rooms with many amenities, including; complimentary bottle of wine, a box of chocolates, a fireplace and a private patio deck with chairs. Feeling romantic? This is the place for you!!

Weather: Dressing for February Near the Ocean

February weather on the Central Coast tends to be a cool with a high between 50 and 65 depending on the day. According to WeatherSpark: Daily high temperatures are around 63°F, rarely falling below 56°F or exceeding 72°F. With daily low temperatures being around 46°F, rarely falling below 38°F or exceeding 54°F.

Expect overcast and cloudy conditions. That time of the year, is a 46% chance of cloud cover. If we’re lucky, at least on the wedding day, we will get some full sunlight. In my experience here in California, cloud cover tends to remain until early to mid afternoon on the coast. That said, dress for a chilly day.

Rainfall in Southern California is seldom.  While February still falls within the rainy season, the chance of rain is around 26%.  Pray for dry conditions on the 16th!

Dressing for the Wedding Ceremony

We don’t expect our wedding to be a black tie affair. We want everyone to feel comfortable and as low stress as possible. May the weekend be a time of rest and tranquility for everyone. Business casual is perfectly fine or dress to impress if you so desire! The wedding party will be wearing navy blue and sienna. That said, no denim!
